New MCCU Branch Underway
(Cloquet, MN) October 4, 2018. Members Cooperative Credit Union broke ground and is underway on the construction of their striking new location on Highway 33 in Cloquet.
The new facility is designed to provide improved access and enhanced member service. The structure will honor the unique surroundings on the site of a former Frank Lloyd Wright-built home and will integrate unique technology features not found in any other financial institution in the area.
“We’re excited to have construction underway and look forward to sharing the new facility with our members and the Cloquet community,” said MCCU president and CEO Tammy Heikkinen. “Our roots are here, and we’re happy to be investing in the community where our legacy started.”
MCCU’s new location is planned to open in the earlier part of 2019. The 14th Street facility will then be handed off to the city of Cloquet, as they begin renovations to house police and City Hall staff.
“We couldn’t have asked for a better purchaser,” said Heikkinen. “We’re grateful that our home of the last several decades will be providing a place for these critical community services.”
The credit union is partnering with local Boldt Company for construction management and has worked to share an educational overview of the building design and construction process with local high school students. Along with cutting edge technology and design, the Highway 33 location will feature drive-up service and a drive-up ATM.
