Lakes Area Federal Credit Union Merges with Members Cooperative Credit Union

Members Cooperative Credit Union (MCCU) and Lakes Area Federal Credit Union (LAFCU) are pleased to announce their merger, effective August 1, 2017. The merger was approved by the National Credit Union Association (NCUA) and by a vote of the membership of Lakes Area Federal Credit Union.

With similar small-town origins, the two Northern Minnesota-based credit unions will unite over 49,000 members, with enhanced products and services, and an expanded network of credit union locations.

“Merging with MCCU allows us to continue to serve our members with the great service Lakes Area Federal Credit Union has been known for,” said Matt Rajala, current Board Presiding Officer of LAFCU. “We’re excited to carry on the credit union mission, while offering great new benefits to our members.”
LAFCU’s Grand Rapids location at 18 NW 4th St. joins MCCU’s branches in Duluth, Cloquet, McGregor, Aitkin Moose Lake, Sandstone, Isanti and North Branch.
