Regional Credit Union Leader Signs Multi-Year Agreement Beginning with the 2017 Grandma’s Marathon

(Duluth, MN)  – Grandma’s Marathon and Members Cooperative Credit Union (MCCU) announced today a multi-year partnership, with Members Cooperative Credit Union becoming an official presenting sponsor of Grandma’s Marathon. Members Cooperative Credit Union will be joining Toyota at the highest sponsor level for the 41st running of the event on June 17, 2017. Registration opened on October 1, 2016 for all three-weekend races.

As a presenting sponsor of the race, Members Cooperative Credit Union will have a prominent presence at all marathon week activities including the Essentia Health Fitness Expo. Additionally, MCCU will host a water station along the course with volunteers and staff.

"As a northern Minnesota original, Members Cooperative Credit Union is proud to sponsor a local legacy event like Grandma's Marathon” says Ryanne Battaglia, Chief Marketing Officer for MCCU.

Grandma’s Marathon Executive Director, Shane Bauer says “This is a very exciting time for Grandma’s Marathon and we’re fortunate to have a local organization at this level of support. We’re really looking forward to everything this partnership will add for our runners, volunteers and this community.”

The MCCU sponsorship comes on the heels of the historic 40th annual Grandma’s Marathon in 2016 with registration being sold out 6 months prior to the race for the first time and also the largest race weekend in the history of the event. The iconic race attracts runners from all 50 states and over 30 countries each year, bringing the race to prominence as the eleventh largest marathon in the United States.

    About MEMBERS COOPERATIVE CREDIT UNION

Members Cooperative Credit Union’s mission is to be the primary, positive financial influence in the lives of their members/owners. Started in 1936 by a group of eight as the Cloquet Co-op Credit Union became Members Cooperative Credit Union on January 1, 2001. The new name was chosen to additionally acknowledge many members outside the Cloquet area. The cooperative family grew again in 2015, with a merger with Lake State Credit Union. Today, more than 48,000 members have come together to pool over $600 million in assets. Their confidence and continued support have made MCCU the largest credit union based north of the Twin Cities.
