Members Cooperative Credit Union (MCCU) is investing in the financial well-being of our credit union member families by creating a new position to focus on financial literacy. Our mission statement, “To be the primary, positive financial influence in the lives of our members/owners,” comes to fruition in the hire of Jeff Bruch as Financial Literacy Specialist. Jeff brings 14 years experience in teaching, leadership, and communication. He holds a Masters Degree from Concordia College and K-12 Administration Licensure. Jeff will reach out to youth, adults, and all those in our communities who need help learning to manage income, expenses, and debt. While we are focusing on reaching out to youth, the true scope of the position is "K to Gray," including everyone from Kindergarten on up, as sometimes people need help at different stages in our lives.
We are all very excited about the educational prospects ahead. Watch for exciting kid clubs and activities by this summer, and new promotions at the credit union to engage the new generation to develop a lifelong savings habit. Offerings being developed include in-house member education to financial literacy presentations in classrooms and community organizations.
If you’d like to contact Jeff for information and requests, you may contact him at 218-878-3639 or jeff.bruch@membersccu.org.
May 22 is your credit union’s 73rd Anniversary!
Formed in 1936 as Cloquet Coop Credit Union with eight members and one location, over the 73 years, our name changed to Members Cooperative Credit Union to embrace a community charter and we expanded to five locations to serve our more than 34,000 members. MCCU is ranked 13th in the State of Minnesota out of 163 credit unions – the largest in the Northland—our members/owners have made us so.
Please stop in any of our locations on May 22 for anniversary cake and cup of coffee – we would be very pleased to celebrate with you – our members/owners.
Sincerely,
Tammy Heikkinen,
President and CEO
